Had the pleasure today with the Daniel Plan group at our church at Pedernales River Fellowship here in Spicewood, Texas, to share from my heart about my chronic illness over about a 12 year period, the discovery that unlocked the mystery and finally the journey back to good health, about food and how it effects our bodies and how there's a true spiritual aspect to it all that helps us grow into the person God wants us to be! What a true blessing that was! Thank God too for my husband and sons for all their unrelenting support over the years when I was so sick and could barely function at times.
God has truly renewed me from the inside out during this journey! More on that on another blog post! Always thought I had my OWN plan but He had a different plan and it took me years to realize this and finally surrender.
It is possible to start making healthier choices even when working outside the home, traveling a lot, etc. It all starts too in our mind. There’s always going to be temptation. Changing our mindset about getting healthy and realizing that our body is the Temple of the Lord and He wants us all to take good care of it because He has a plan for us. We cannot accomplish His plan when we are sick, tired, irritable, overweight, brain foggy, and chronically ill.
We can all start together one step at a time, taking it day by day and taking baby steps until we reach a goal, then set another, and reach that, and another and reach that. I love food too and cook real whole food as much as possible trying to stay away from packaged foods especially gluten free packaged foods which contain sugar. Gluten free food isn’t bad for us BAD gluten free foods are!
There's nothing like going out to the garden and picking fresh food and taking it right to the kitchen and on your plate! Start small! It doesn't have to be sprint! In small spaces use containers. It is possible when it becomes a priority. How important is it to you to become more healthy?
Good wholesome food doesn’t have to taste like cardboard! Meats, chicken, fish, pork, veggies! Use herbs and spices to add flavor. Good fats are great for the brain! Our brain thrives on FAT not carbs! *from Dr. David Perlmutter’s book ‘Grain Brain.’

Fresh beets, yellow baby carrots and tomatoes on the dinner plate! If we don't have them in the garden we buy them at Whole Foods. Is it worth it? HECK yea!! This is our lifestyle! It cost me much more to be sick for all those years! I couldn't even go outside most of the time! I was too fatigued, or had a headache, or was in too much pain!
Enjoy the Journey!
Sue
